FC Barcelona Ready for First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside as per the current authorization. After final construction, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session inside the stadium in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
