Greater Manchester Synagogue Incident Victims Identified

Mr. Cravitz, 66, was from Crumpsall - the area where the local synagogue is located, according to police.

Two men killed in a violent incident on a religious center in Manchester have been named by authorities as Adrian Daulby, aged 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Three more people remain in hospital with severe trauma after Jihad Al-Shamie used an automobile into individuals before using a bladed weapon on the morning of the incident.

The violent incident, which police have said was a terrorist incident, came on Judaism's holiest day, the most important observance in the Jewish religious calendar.

The perpetrator, who was fatally shot at the site, was a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent who was not previously identified to counter terrorism police, per government sources.

Official Statements

"Our hearts are broken," the UK's Chief Rabbi stated.

During a conversation on a prominent media outlet, he stated: "The tragic incident was a terrible shock to us, something which we had apprehensions regarding might happen because of the escalating tensions."

The attack was not only "an extremely difficult period" for Jewish citizens nationwide "but for all of our society," he emphasized.

Government Response

"Our obligation is to ensure our Jewish community, our residents can conduct their daily activities with protection and peace of mind," the Home Secretary announced.

"We cannot allow the Jewish community in our country to feel compelled to live a limited religious practice, that they cannot conduct their affairs and practice their faith and visit their worship places in liberty," she stated.

The assailant was not recognized to security services, she informed broadcasters, and it was "premature" to say if there was a terror network behind the attack.

Ongoing Probe

The police investigation was "continuing at pace" and there was an enhanced security deployment at synagogues across the UK.

"Funding is available for safety resources," the representative commented, adding: "We must evaluate what further actions we can take to combat growing religious prejudice."

Greater Manchester police announced they were supporting the families of the two victims.

"Our heartfelt condolences are with Mr Daulby and Mr Cravitz's loved ones at this extremely hard time," a senior police officer declared.

He indicated that trained family liaison officers were in communication with families and would continue to support them through the investigative procedures.

"Although procedures exist which must be followed, we commit to being mindful of community customs and sensitivities and to making certain that the deceased and their relatives' requests are followed," he added, stating that the deceased individuals were from Crumpsall.

Medical examinations are taking place on the following day, according to government statements.
