Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' latest album, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.
My son advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
They have got plenty of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's home record, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
