The carrier is introducing complimentary quick in-flight internet through satellite deal

Flyers aboard the airline can soon enjoy high-speed wifi onboard free of charge following a major deal from SpaceX's communications company.

Complimentary and Fast Connectivity Across the Board

The carrier revealed that this no-cost, “quick and reliable” connectivity service through Starlink becomes offered to travelers in economy, business, and first class from soon.

Broad Implementation Over Multiple Flight Operators

The holding company for British Airways, International Airlines Group, confirmed it had finalized an agreement involving the satellite firm to offer internet services across more than 500 aircraft within their operators, such as the Irish airline, Iberia, plus Vueling.

Smooth Internet starting at Gate to Landing

The airline noted that the implementation for this technology was included in a multi-billion pound “upgrade” initiative and would deliver smooth connectivity access for passengers starting at boarding to landing, including when they are flying across seas or remote regions.

Passengers can hook up several gadgets while they will not require a separate password.

“Gamechanging for us as well as passengers, improving onboard service in the air our flights through providing passengers continuous connectivity throughout the flight.”

Present Wifi Services

Restricted wifi access is currently offered for BA passengers through most of the airline's planes through the .air system.

Members of the airline's loyalty club may transmit communications and text-only messages in the air without paying, whereas flyers wishing to stream audio, video, and movies throughout their travel if not travelling in first class might pay between four pounds ninety-nine and ÂŁ21.99 for a connectivity plan.

Starlink’s Infrastructure

Starlink uses a system of many thousands of orbiting devices which is managed by SpaceX’s aerospace firm.

Recent Upgrades for BA

The airline's executive team has been striving to revitalize operations again after years with cost cutting, technology issues, strikes, and mass redundancies.

BA explained that use with artificial intelligence has assisted the airline to reach their punctuality to record highs since 2012.

Earnings Results

Earlier this year, British Airways announced a jump in operating profits for H1 recently, helping to push IAG’s results to grow.

International Airlines Group is due to release its results covering the three months from July to September soon.

Additional Starlink Agreements

This update arrives shortly after mobile phone carrier Virgin Media O2 said it was partnering with Starlink to boost cellular coverage across remote areas across the United Kingdom, enabling customers to easily connect mobile devices through orbiting devices when no regular mobile signal can be found.
