President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of an Indian-origin hotel manager in Dallas last week.

"The time for being soft on these undocumented criminals is FINISHED under my watch," the President declared in a update on his Truth Social account.

Background of the Shocking Event

Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, fifty years old, was reportedly assaulted with a knife by his co-worker the accused in front of his wife and child after a dispute over a malfunctioning appliance.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who is now in custody, has been charged with murder.

Trump’s Statement

President Trump stated that the suspect "will be prosecuted to the maximum of the law" and will be "indicted for murder in the most severe charge."

He also targeted the Biden administration, claiming that the accused had been previously arrested for several crimes, including accused child abuse, but was "freed back into society because his home country declined to accept his return."

Immigration Status of the Accused

As per official records, Mr Cobos-Martinez is an undocumented immigrant with a deportation order of removal from the US.

He was reportedly in detention at a facility in Dallas but was released on an order of supervision in early this year after Cuba "refused to accept him due to his criminal history."

Victim’s Background

Nagamallaiah, who was from the Indian state of Karnataka, worked at the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas.

He studied at school and college in Bangalore, southern India, before relocating to the US in 2018. His son recently graduated high school and is planning to begin university.

Details of the Incident

The assault took place on 10 September. Police received a "knife attack call" and confirmed through investigation that the suspect had cut the victim repeatedly with an edged weapon.

ICE has placed a detainer on Mr Cobos-Martinez at the Dallas County Jail, where he remains in custody.

Follow-up

Nagamallaiah’s funeral were conducted on September 13 in Flower Mound, attended by family and friends.

A fundraiser initiated to aid his loved ones has collected more than $321,000 to date.
